JRCS mascot character Kikuho called for the prevention of child abuse.

On 29 October, the Orange Ribbon Tasuki Relay in Shimonoseki, a campaign to promote child abuse prevention, was held. In 2022, a record 219,170 cases were reported to the Child Guidance Centers. Citizens and organizations working with children took part in this event, calling for the prevention of child abuse by wearing orange ribbons symbolizing the prevention of child abuse.

The JRCS mascot, Kikuho, also took part in the event at the request of Childline Shimonoseki, who sponsored the event. Together with Childline volunteers, they took to the streets handing out cards and sweets to children.

Childline Shimonoseki is an organization that listens to children over the phone. Koichi Nakagawa (head of Katsuyama Nursery School), who is the representative of the organization, explained the reason for the offer: The concept of the JRCS character Kikuho, ”listening with the heart”, fits with the aims of Childline activities.

The event will be broadcast on 15 November on Navitele! (yab Yamaguchi Asahi Broadcasting).
