JRCS Visited Shimonoseki Deputy Mayor to Report MEXT E-Taiken Award Achievement!

JRCS Chairman and President Koichiro Kondo visited Shimonoseki City Hall to report the company’s receipt of the MEXT E Taiken Award (Commendation for Companies Promoting Youth Experience Activities). He conveyed the achievement – an “Encouragement Prize” in the Small and Medium Sized Enterprise Category – to the Deputy Mayor of Shimonoseki and the Superintendent of the Shimonoseki Board of Education.

At the meeting, JRCS introduced its marine education program for upper grade elementary students in Shimonoseki, titled “What Would Happen if Ships Disappeared from Japan?” and exchanged views on future developments and ways to strengthen collaboration with the local community.

The Deputy Mayor remarked, “This is a highly meaningful initiative that helps children learn about local industries. As a city, we would like to support efforts like this so they can continue to grow,” expressing his expectations for JRCS’s activities.

Chairman and President Kondo also spoke about Shimonoseki’s industrial background and shared the following thoughts: “Shimonoseki is a city built on maritime transport and shipbuilding. As a company whose mission is to ensure that marine transportation never stop, we want children to learn more about this work and to continue providing opportunities for them to understand the deep connection between ships and the local community.”

JRCS will continue its educational initiatives to convey the importance of marine transportation and the role of ships to the next generation and will contribute to the development of future talent that will support the maritime industry together with the local community.
