A presentation of the research results on insect pest control using an insect repellent ultrasonic device utilizing Flezo film

The National Agriculture and Food Research Organization (NARO) is engaged in research and development of new crop protection technologies in order to increase the international competitiveness of Japanese agriculture.br>
One field of research concerns the “Ultrasonic control of Lepidoptera pests”, comprising of an insect-repelling ultrasonic device (a joint prototype with Tohoku Gakuin University) that uses JRCS organic piezoelectric film known as “Flezo Film” as an ultrasonic transmission material.

On February 19, 2020 (Wednesday), a research result presentation was held at Campus Plaza Kyoto, with approximately 240 people in attendance. In addition to the lecture by the Agricultural Research Institute, a product exhibition was held and at the JRCS booth an insect-controlling ultrasonic device was introduced.

A serious labor shortage is now being experienced in the agriculture, forestry and fisheries industry. Meanwhile, the world’s population is steadily increasing, providing an overseas business opportunity to expand exports. The contribution from JRCS will make industry in Japan more attractive for young people through science and technology innovation and revitalize the entire industry.
